Photovoltaic panels at the Technical Facilities of Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna
Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (Łódź Agglomeration Railway, ŁKA) completed works related to the construction of photovoltaic panels at its Technical Facilities. Thanks to this solution, the rail carrier will be able to provide non-traction electricity needed for the operation of the Technical Facilities.
Another important step in building a zero-emission railway sector is renewable energy sources. Electricity generated in the photovoltaic generator will be in the first instance consumed for ŁKA’s own needs – powering the maintenance and repair hall for vehicles and infrastructure located in the external area (e.g. lighting, traffic control devices), and its excess will be introduced into the power grid. Expected power obtained from the installation is about 250 kWp.
Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna is a company that boldly invests in environment-friendly solutions to increase the energy efficiency of its daily activities. Since the beginning of this year, 30% of carriages under the Green Railway® program is powered by renewable energy sources, and this percentage will gradually increase in the coming years.
Thanks to these measures ŁKA, which carries out public transport tasks, not only focuses on a constant improvement in the quality of its services, but also implements real measures so as to be a fully ecological and environment-friendly carrier.
